Like the wind-borne seeds of a dandelion, the human potential for continued growth is within us. As all humans do, we are presented with barriers in both our personal and interpersonal lives and similar to you and the circumstances that have brought you here, sometimes, we require the assistance of another. Seeking such support demonstrates the courage and strength it takes to explore and confront the challenges you are experiencing. At Growth Counselling Services, we will face this journey together in hopes of discovering the change process that leads to a more full and values directed life. If you are ready, or thinking about confronting the personal difficulties that you're facing, then I am here and dedicated to helping you navigate along the way. Please scroll down to “Counselling Services Provided” to see what types of services I offer.

Please contact me if you have a concern that is not included above, or if you require any clarification.

At Growth Counselling Services, you are seen as exactly that, an individual. Considering your individual circumstances, realities, challenges, as well as your strengths, we will work together to help you gain greater insight into your experienced difficulties, while striving toward personal growth and lasting and meaningful change.
As your child or teen's therapist, they will be meeting with an experienced clinician who is genuine, respectful, caring and compassionate. With over 20 years of experience in working with children and youth, I have developed a great understanding of the various challenges that have brought them to counselling. Whether those challenges involve – behaviour, school, relationships, depression, anxiety, stress, attachment related difficulties, or trauma etc., I am confident that they will experience meaningful change throughout the therapeutic process. Part of my work/focus is to approach your child or teens' expressed difficulties at the root level, while further providing a deeper understanding of their surface behaviours.
Much like children and teens, a great deal of my experience and passion lies in working with the family as a whole. Family therapy at Growth Counselling Services provides a comfortable and safe space for each member of the family to have their concerns heard, while striving toward healthier functioning and relationships. Regardless of the presenting challenges brought to counselling, an emphasis on discovering the family’s strengths and inherent potential for positive and lasting change is continually supported.
Post Adoption & Foster Care
Adopting or fostering a child is a fulfilling and incredibly rewarding experience for parents. Although parents experience the love and joy that goes along with the arrival of their child, the process of adoption/fostering, the transition, and the caregiving can sometimes be complex and stressful. The associated and experienced complications of relationship connections and shifts, in addition to the impacts of trauma on the child and their adoptive/fostering family can be an overwhelming reality leaving the family seeking answers and help. At Growth Counselling Services you will receive therapeutic support that stems from numerous years of experience in working with this population. Empathy, respect, and genuine caring is at the heart of my approach while providing both parents and child with a sense of safety and comfort throughout the counselling process. Through an attachment lens, we will work together to better understand your child's unique needs, behaviour(s), and perspectives. Doing so will help build upon the necessary trust and emotional connection required to form a more secure attachment and the desired change expressed by you and your child.
Trauma and Attachment
At some point in our lives, it is likely that we will experience some form of trauma that may or may not have an impact on our well-being. Trauma comes in a variety of forms, and as individuals, we can experience it quite differently. Growth Counselling Services is a trauma informed practice with many years of experience in working with those who have been affected by this difficult sensory experience. I am passionate about trauma and the associated challenges that it can have on children, adolescents, family, and adults alike. A great deal of my experience and training is rooted in traumatic work, and more specifically, complex and developmental trauma involving children and adolescents. For children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect, separation, divorce, abandonment, and/or apprehension that results in coming into foster/child protective care, attachment related disruptions and other attachment related difficulties become a reality. This reality often manifests into behavioural "concerns", emotionally based challenges, and a lost sense of trust, safety, and security for the child and correlated shifts in the family unit and caregiver-child bond. As your therapist, I will strive to build, strengthen, and restore a safe and secure relationship between you and your child through an attachment lens and attachment based therapies such as Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Dr. Daniel Hughes). My approach will focus on therapeutic reintegration with both the child and family, while incorporating fundamental principles such as - repair work, attunement, intersubjectivity, and sensitive responsiveness. Trauma and attachment related challenges can be very difficult for all involved and cause strain on the relationships that you value the most, therefore, I am dedicated in working with you and your child in understanding such challenges and helping you to re-establish healthy and secure based attachments.
